The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Waste Minimisation Officer to join our Recycling and Waste Team for a one year period.
We are currently preparing for the introduction of a new service including the collection of soft plastics at kerbside, a reroute and new collection vehicles and three weekly waste collections. We are aiming to minimise waste, increase recycling and tackle the climate emergency. This role has a direct impact on North Somerset residents as well as helping the council achieve the objectives of our ten-year waste strategy.
In this role, you will be delivering recycling and waste advice and support to residents through a mixture of desk based enquiries and lots of engagement work out in the district. You will require a thorough knowledge and understanding of the work processes to support the team, work unsupervised much of the time and resolve technical and process problems and queries, with readily available advice from managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Working as part of a team to increase recycling participation
- Engaging and supporting residents to reduce their waste
- Undertaking inspections, monitoring and enforcement
- Being able to work on own initiative and be able to plan day-to-day work load.
- Providing general support to the Recycling & Waste Team as required.
