What you’ll be doing:

Slough Borough Council operates an in-house waste / refuse collection service.

You will be responsible for the daily operations of the waste / refuse collection team, ensuring the delivery of a safe and efficient service to the residents of Slough. You will need to ensure that you can evidence a valid certificate of technical competency for this role, ratified by the Chartered Institute of Waste Management

You will be responsible for the supervision of a team of up to 45 staff, reporting to the Operations Manager for Waste and Street Cleansing and you will need to ensure that the council’s waste service is prepared for changes brought about by the Environment Act and Simpler Recycling, including a borough-wide food collection initiatives to be introduced by April 2026.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your Director.
