West Devon Borough and South Hams District Councils are shared authorities with an exciting, innovative and forward looking delivery model. The two Councils are undergoing significant change to provide a more efficient and effective service to our customers. For waste and associated services, this involves a number of high profile and time critical projects relating to the delivery of the domestic and trade waste services.
We are offering an opportunity to a customer-focused individual who welcomes change and can drive forward and shape new ways of service delivery. In return, we can offer flexible working in an environment where innovation, challenge and efficiency are key aspects within a dedicated team working at a strategic level commissioning waste, recycling, street cleansing, public toilet cleaning, grounds and building maintenance services.
As a Senior Specialist, you should be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) and preferably be a chartered member of the Institute of Wastes Management. You will have a wide range of previous experience including; domestic waste collections, procurement within a Local Authority setting, project management and contract performance and administration. Most importantly you will embrace change and challenge accepted practice.
If you have significant experience in waste and can demonstrate a clear understanding of our services and the methodology for improvements then this opportunity may be for you.
The IMPACT Behavioural framework has been developed to support South Hams District and West Devon Borough Councils' ambitions for their workforce.
The framework aims to enhance both individual and organisational performance and will be applied in recruitment, performance management and career progression. It defines the behaviours that all colleagues across both councils are expected to consistently demonstrate at work.
