An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environment & Waste Management Technician within the Waste Policy & Strategy Team in the Environment and Transport Department. We are looking for someone to develop, deliver and evaluate waste initiatives and projects, including engaging with local communities, to increase recycling and reuse; reduce contamination, prevent waste and support delivery of the Council's environmental commitments.

About the Role

Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent

You will have the vision to identify and develop waste and environmental initiatives and the skills to deliver and evaluate them to create a cleaner, greener Leicestershire.

You will work closely with our communications team and be involved in the delivery of our volunteer scheme, including the delivery of training courses.

You will enjoy building relationships across stakeholders and working with the public; utilising your communication, presentation and organisational skills at events, roadshows and workshops to encourage behavioural change. This will include working outside normal working hours and at different locations than your designated base.  A proactive, flexible ‘can do’ attitude is a key attribute for this role

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Have GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English and BTEC National, NVQ3 or equivalent
  • Have experience of project planning & evaluation
  • Have good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Have experience in the use of MS Office packages sufficient to collate information and produce reports
  • Be enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Be able to work effectively alone or as part of a team
  • Be in possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle, subject to the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
