Making A Difference as an Environment & Climate Team Manager in Environment Waste & Traded Service

Now more than ever, we need to drive innovative change across our services, enabling the Council to take the next step in delivering its ambitious agenda and adapting collectively to a changing world and achieve our carbon zero goals.
This is a key role in the Environment and Operations team, to help lead the development and delivery of our Openspaces Strategy, Resources and waste strategy and other environmental strategies to enable the Council to become carbon net zero. This role will be involved in leading, commissioning, procuring, specifying and co-ordinating a range of services focusing on the delivery and change.
This role requires experience in effective team and project management, in a busy, constantly moving environment with multiple responsibilities, you must have proven team management skills and the ability to develop your staff. The ability to maintain strong professional relationships with other departments is also a must for this post.
The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to lead forward and develop new and innovative ways of working to ensure that we provide an efficient service delivery model. You will have robust leadership and management skills and the ability to work in a politically sensitive environment.
We would welcome applications from innovative individuals who are able to take the lead in the management of change and who have a demonstrable record of influencing and negotiation, as well as ensuring that outcomes are being delivered to the quality and standard that is expected.
Degree, professional qualification or equivalent through experience in the Climate Waste/Environment fields, managing professional & technical staff, including personnel matters, proven track record of significant knowledge of environmental sector, knowledge of Environmental legislation and policies relating to Openspaces and Climate are all essential for this post.
It is desirable the post holder has specialist technical experience in relation to the Openspaces/Climate and delivering environmental strategies in a local authority context.
