Powerday is London's leading independent waste management and recycling company. Founded in 1977, it processes waste for local authorities, businesses and construction projects, running one of Southern England's largest MRFs and handling over 3.5 million tonnes a year with 100% landfill diversion. Services include fly-tipping clearance, skip and wheelie-bin hire, Government Pride in Place support, community works and civic site management.
Sustainability is rooted in everything that Powerday does, and this is formalised through a Net Zero roadmap and annual reporting via its Sustainability Manifesto, launched in 2021. Between 2021 and 2025, Powerday cut absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 31% and is on track to beat its 35% target by the end of 2026. The company’s fleet is fully ULEZ-compliant, with electric and HVO vehicles being introduced as part of a staged electrification plan. Community investment is at the heart of Powerday through its Foundation. Established in 2011, the Foundation works with local schools, charities, and community organisations to help young Londoners through sport and opportunity. Through its long-standing partnership with London Boxing, it has invested more than £15.5 million into grassroots boxing clubs in disadvantaged communities, supporting over 90 estate-based venues and positively impacting more than 40,000 young people. Alongside this, the Foundation continues to back wider community initiatives, including its charity shop at Hillingdon Civic Amenity Site, which has raised almost £100,000 for Harlington Hospice by giving donated household items a second life.
