Changes are afoot at LARAC as we welcome our new Policy and Communications Lead, Toni McNamara.

Toni joins us from Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council, where she spent four years supporting the recycling and waste department in a strategic and communications capacity. Initially helping to develop the rollout of a twin-stream recycling service, she went on to be instrumental in implementing a successful contamination process, forged new partnerships to improve services for residents, and created and managed the first ever in-house Facebook page for the service.

Andrew Bird, LARAC Treasurer and Chair of the Appointments and Remuneration Committee said,

“Toni has a wealth of experience in communications with her local authority experience and other organisations such as Hubbub. She has a keen interest in research and policy development and will provide valuable support and help to our members.”

Toni will be engaging with internal and external stakeholders and national Governments, leading the Policy Team and consultations with our members. Most importantly she will ensure LARAC’s voice is heard on the key issues and challenges we face. Toni said,

“I cannot wait to get stuck into my role here at LARAC. I am ready for this new challenge and looking forward to representing your views on all things recycling, resources and waste, especially the eagerly awaited policies arising from the Collection and Packaging Reforms.”

Carole Taylor, LARAC Executive Director said,

“Toni is looking forward to advocating for all LARAC members as we move into uncertain but exciting times for everyone in the sector. I am sure she will bring a fleet load of enthusiasm to this new and exciting role.”
