Across the UK, thousands of tonnes of reusable goods leave households every year without being recorded in WasteDataFlow (WDF). This missed tonnage represents lost performance, lost environmental benefit, and lost opportunities to engage residents.
Councils that partner with Anglo Doorstep Collections (ADC) are changing that. By adding ADC as a reuse option, authorities can capture this hidden stream, boost WDF performance, and do so at zero cost.
What Anglo Doorstep Collections Does…
ADC provides a national doorstep collection service for small reusable goods, including clothing, shoes, linen, books, toys, kitchenware, CDs/DVDs, and small electricals.
Goods are rehomed both in the UK and abroad, wherever they are most needed. Crucially, every kilogram collected is measured and reported back to councils in a WDF-ready format accepted by WasteDataFlow.org.
Why Councils Choose Anglo Doorstep Collections?
More than 30 councils already partner with ADC, and a further 120 receive our WDF reports. Partner councils consistently see their reuse tonnage rise, often by double-digit percentages within months.
Authorities that list ADC on their websites also become easier for residents to find via search engines, leading to greater participation and better reuse outcomes.
Our model is designed around the resident experience. Unlike bag drops or kerbside schemes, ADC offers an online booking service. Residents choose a convenient collection date, receive a text or email with the driver’s ETA on the morning of collection, and can leave items in a safe location if preferred. This approach improves satisfaction and reduces complaints.
All vans are fully signed, drivers carry ID, and service capacity is highly flexible, giving councils confidence that collections can scale up whenever needed.
Wider Benefits
ADC is more than a collection service. Since 2021 we have:
- Paid over £450,000 directly to UK charities
- Planted more than 60,000 trees as part of our sustainability programme
We are also working with WRAP to pilot a new “Recycle from Home” service on RecycleNow.com, currently being trialled with seven councils.
Becoming a Partner
Joining is straightforward:
- Add ADC as a reuse option on your council website.
- We provide a tailored landing page for residents, plus communications support.
