LARAC attended the PRE/PDM/PPS event held at the International Centre in Telford on the 16 -17 June 2015 for the second year running. This year saw the launch of the Plastic Industry Recycling Action Plan PIRAP, which is an industry call to action to help them meet their challenging targets by 2017. LARAC have been part of the working group ‘Improving Collections’ and ‘Steering Group’, from the very beginning and along with many other stakeholders has helped shape the action plan into something we can lend our name to and, hopefully, encourage all local authorities to consider including, where ever possible, a wide range of plastics in their collections as and when the opportunity arises. The event again gave us the chance showcase LARAC; our Chair, Andrew Bird gave a really hands-on and informative presentation on the challenges we face with TEEP and how LAs can help industry achieve its 2017 plastic recycling targets.
It surprising the number of visitors who came to our stand, in what really isn’t considered a LA event, these ranged from companies asking ‘how do we get into the LA market for materials’ through to a delegate from Taiwan interested in our model and structure, as they have nothing like LARAC over there. I can feel a visit coming on maybe, possibly, well alright may be not but at least we are being looked at globally which is a really good thing, a sort good to know brand.
