LARAC welcomes Victoria (Vicki) Burrell who has been appointed as Vice Chair for LARAC.
Vicki has worked in local authority waste management services for 23 years in County Durham and has held the position of North East representative on the LARAC executive since November 2009. Vicki is a member of the LARAC policy team, conference planning group and the Appointments and Remuneration (ARC) Committee. She is employed by Durham County Council as their Waste Strategy Team Manager and is active with NERF, the North East Recycling Forum, which LARAC sponsors. Vicki brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to her new role. Vicki takes over from Durk Rayner, who was previously with LARAC since 1996 (our longest serving Exec member). We wish Durk a fond farewell.
Vicki said on her appointment:
“It is an exciting and challenging time to be involved within local authority waste and recycling services. The future will bring radical reform across the waste industry, which is very much needed, however it needs to be resourced and managed. Having worked within local authority waste management services for many years, I feel that I have a wealth of knowledge and experience I can share with others. I welcome the opportunity to be Vice Chair of LARAC and I am privileged to represent our membership nationally.”
