LARAC is very happy to announce that Sarah Mallen will be joining the new-look LARAC Policy team as its Policy Support Officer.
Starting in April, Sarah, from Staffordshire County Council will be partly replacing Liz Drew (a hard act to follow!) who left her post in January. The new Policy Team is now back up to strength and poised to represent our members' views to the national and devolved governments.
The team is one with good credentials - Sarah will be supported by Sally Talbot, also a former Policy Support Officer and Durk Reyner, long time National Rep and also by the rest of the Policy team and our representatives in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Andrew Bird, the LARAC Chair, also its former Policy Support Officer, will be leading the new Policy crew.
Selected from a strong field of candidates Sarah has an impressive history of working in the field of policy. She has co-ordinated Staffordshire County Council’s response to climate change since 2008, when she took SCC through the Carbon Trust’s Local Authority Programme. she is also responsible for developing corporate policy on energy efficiency, climate change mitigation and adaptation and renewable energy. She advises on relevant upcoming national legislation, and manages various partnership projects with public and third sector partners across Staffordshire.
Sarah will be working for LARAC for one day a week on a secondment arrangement with Staffordshire County Council. LARAC is very grateful for their support in allowing Sarah the time to dedicate to this work, which ensures our continued strong representation of our members before governments and other influential bodies.
A warm LARAC welcome to Sarah!
