WRAP are asking all local authorities to check and update their scheme information for 22/23 on the WRAP LA Portal as part of the LA Portal Annual Update (LAPAU).
Defra have engaged with a number of local authority representative groups on the development of the funding formula for the distribution of the capital to support the introduction of separate weekly household food waste collections by waste collection authorities in England as required in the Environment Act.
To inform the distribution of the funding for New Burdens, the latest LA data will be taken from WRAP’s LA Portal, so we are urging local authorities to review and update the data on the portal by 31st January 2023.

♦ LA Portal Annual Update (LAPAU) - other nations
WRAP are asking all local authorities to check and update their scheme information for 22/23 on the WRAP LA Portal The update will refresh the values presented within the Portal which are used for a variety of applications including:
- An up-to-date hub for Local Authorities to view collection scheme information
- Scheme performance benchmarking
- Collection cost indicators – this is a new feature and will be updated again by the Spring
- Information for the Recycle Now locator, to provide accurate kerbside collection information
- Scheme and performance values are a key reference point in the development of funding for Local Authorities. Ensuring the scheme data is correct is essential to ensure that the right funding allocation is awarded to Councils.
