Hello from everyone here at Severn Trent Green Power!
For those of you who might not know us, Severn Trent Green Power (STGP) specialises in the recycling of organic waste. We have developed a market-leading position, working with around 50 local authorities and recycling quantities in excess of 500,000 tonnes of organic waste each year.
We offer a complete and proven service to our customers and currently own and operate eight food waste anaerobic digestion (AD) facilities (in Surrey, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Bridgend and the Midlands), two In-Vessel Composting (IVC) facilities (in Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire) and three green waste sites in Oxfordshire.
Performance is Key
At STGP’s AD facilities, food waste is digested to produce a biogas (which is turned in to renewable energy) and an excellent PAS110 approved bio-fertiliser. Our AD facilities have the same key design features and technologies installed, we can therefore guarantee the same efficient and reliable service for the treatment of source segregated food waste across our network of AD facilities.
Our award-winning AD facilities achieve on average over 99% availability and are widely recognised as the top performing AD facilities in the United Kingdom. We have won numerous industry awards over the years, such as ‘Organics Recycling Business of the Year’ and ‘Recycling Business of the Year’ at Letsrecycle.com’s Awards for Excellence 2021 and most recently wining ‘The Net Zero Award’ at the AD and Biogas Industry Awards 2022.
Realising Environmental Benefits
From STGP’s AD activities we export around 230GWh of renewable energy in the form of electricity and gas to grid, we are one of the largest producers of renewable energy from food waste in the UK. On average one of our AD facilities generates enough renewable energy to power 7,000 homes. Our AD facilities also produce a nutrient-rich biofertilizer that is used to benefit local farmland and provide an organic replacement for petrochemical derived fertilisers.

We care deeply about making a positive impact on our environment and strive to support our customers to achieve the same. From our twelve years’ experience of recycling Local Authority food waste, we are well versed in collaborating with Councils on their communication activities to positively engage their residents and increase recycling rates.
