The world’s population has grown astronomically since the 1950’s, now being 3 times larger than it was 70 years ago.
By 2022 the global human population surpassed 8 billion, with a further expected growth of 2 billion by 2050. We have all seen the impacts of the population growth in our everyday lives, one effect has been the heightened demand for more houses. Across the UK, we are seeing greenfield agricultural land and brownfield industrial sites, being developed in response to a strong housing demand.
As well as driving further demand for improvements in transport and amenities, a growing population will also undoubtably generate more waste and recycling opportunities. Studies have estimated that the annual waste generated – residential, commercial and ‘on the go’ – is expected to increase by 73% from 2020 levels to 3.88 billion tonnes by 2050.
As the volumes of waste and recycling continue to grow, so too does the variety of waste streams, aided by an ever increasing adoption of more segregated waste collection services, promoted by the impending consistency of collection regulations.
With our UK based LDPE recycling and manufacturing facility, coupled with our well-established international network of longstanding trade partners, we are well placed to meet the increasing and ever evolving demand from our growing customer base. Conventional, high recycled content refuse and recycling bags as well as EN13432 certified compostable bags for organic waste streams can be made to order or called off from stock, distributed nationally from our head office and distribution centre near Leeds.
