What is edoc?

Edoc – electronic duty of care - is set to revolutionise the UK's current paper-based waste transfer note (WTN) system when it is launched in January 2014.

Developed by the Environment Agency in partnership with the waste sector and other government bodies, it is a simple online portal that allows you to create electronic WTNs securely, and manage, search, interrogate and retrieve them quickly and easily. It will provide a modern, quick and easy online alternative, which will save businesses time, effort and ultimately money.

Edoc previewed at the RWM 2013
Delegates attending RWM in Birmingham earlier in September were treated to an exclusive preview of the edoc system ahead of its launch in the New Year

We were delighted to welcome over 150 representatives from across the waste industry, local authorities and wider business sector to our preview event, and show the first screening of a video animation showcasing the benefits and key features of edoc – click here  to view the trailer.

The makers of edoc were extremely encouraged by the interest they received in the preview - all 150 places were filled less than an hour after the invitation was issued. With just two months to go now until the system goes live, edoc are confident that interest will continue to build and that more and more organisations will sign up to transfer to edoc next year.

Mat Crocker, the Environment Agency’s Head of Illegals and Waste, and Steve Lee, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), introduced edoc, while Brian Handcock, Head of Sustainability for construction company Morgan Sindall, and Bernard Amos, Chief Executive of waste management consultancy Helistrat, told delegates why their businesses are gearing up the online option.     For the full story click here

Register your interest   If you do nothing else today than register to receive information about edoc you are on the first step to reducing the 100s of paper copies of the WTN DoC. The time and effort to get them sign each year will and free up your time for something a little more important.
