Following the decision by Government with regards to charges for ‘DIY’ waste the Statutory Instrument was signed in Parliament today and will come into effect from the 1 January 2024.
The SI should be listed on the Parliament website later today or tomorrow and you will be able to find it here - Statutory Instruments - UK Parliament
The SI is very much in line with the Governments response to the consultation from June and essentially will ensure that construction-type waste that meets the four descriptors as outlined in the government response will be classified as household waste and cannot be charged for, where waste does not meet the descriptors then local authorities may charge for it.
