For Education Officers who are engaging with schools, you need look no further than our Learning Aluminium website. Aimed at KS2 and KS3 pupils, we have free downloadable resources for teachers, that make recycling fun and engaging for students. The resources are linked to science, maths, art and PSHE curricula, with full lesson plans and Q&A worksheets that will develop pupil’s team-building, scientific and creative-thinking skills.
For KS2, pupils get the chance to get creative with a manga inspired comic strip ‘Masters of Infinity’ that will see them embark on quests with the help of the ‘Infinites’, a group of warriors who use the power of recycling to save the planet from the evil ‘Land Phil’. For KS3, our ‘Bin-Fluencer’ resources are guided by fun-fact animations, packed with challenges that will get students excited about recycling and reducing their environmental footprint. The addition of challenge sheets, teacher notes and curriculum links make our new resources super informative, but user friendly too!
A new competition for KS2 will be launched this September. We are challenging pupils to get creative by designing artwork for a recycling bin for their school. The winning entry will win their design emblazoned on a recycling bin for their school and a live aluminium recycling workshop for their whole class with Casting Innovations. www.castinginnovations.com
With the class watching on, the Casting Innovations team will melt down used drink cans collected by pupils and cast them into moulds made by the pupils earlier in the workshop. Each pupil will take home a recycled keyring as a memento of the day and to remind them about the importance of recycling, sustainability and the infinite circularity of aluminium packaging.

Free Recycling Support for Your Local Authority’s Commercial Waste Customers
Alupro’s Every Can Counts programme aims to inspire, encourage and empower people to recycle their empty drinks cans. The programme offers free materials to businesses and organisations to improve on-the-go drink can collection facilities and help businesses cut their carbon footprint by increasing levels of can recycling.
Businesses and organisations can request free Every Can Counts starter packs through our website: www.everycancounts.co.uk. Each starter pack contains 3 cardboard drink can collection boxes, liner sacks and a selection of promotional posters which highlight the benefits of recycling drink cans.
These materials are designed to be easily added to existing organisational recycling schemes, or they can be used to introduce drink can recycling points to a workplace for the first time. By raising awareness of recycling facilities and communicating the environmental benefits of recycling, these resources can help to boost capture rates for all recycling, not just cans.
Every Can Counts partners with local authorities to promote these materials to commercial waste and recycling customers. We work with councils to produce co-branded promotional flyers for distribution to trade customers. These flyers raise awareness of the availability of our starter packs and encourage more businesses in the local area to make use of these free materials to boost drink can recycling rates.
