Whether you're currently recruiting, planning for future workforce needs, or interested in helping shape the next generation of talent in our sector, this webinar will provide practical insights and support that could benefit your business.
WRA Board member Vicki Hughes recently launched her CIWM Presidential campaign, Think Again, which aims to make the many rewarding and often hidden careers in the waste and resources sector more visible to the workforce of tomorrow.
By signing the Think Again Pledge, organisations commit to:
1. Rethinking how we talk about the sector
Reviewing the language, messaging and imagery we use to better reflect the value, innovation and opportunities within our industry.
2. Showcasing the full range of careers available
Highlighting the breadth of roles, skills and career pathways across the waste and resources sector.
3. Creating accessible routes into employment
Supporting new entrants, career changers and returners through clear pathways, development opportunities and inclusive recruitment practices.
4. Championing inclusive and flexible workplaces
Sharing best practice and helping to create environments where people from all backgrounds can thrive.
5. Telling authentic stories that inspire
Amplifying the voices of people working in our sector and demonstrating the positive impact they make every day.
To support this initiative, we have invited colleagues from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to explain the Government's Youth Guarantee and outline practical ways businesses can attract and support young people into employment.
This webinar will be particularly valuable for family-run and small to medium-sized businesses (fewer than 250 employees) looking to recruit, develop and retain talent.
The session will consist of a 20-minute presentation, followed by an opportunity to ask questions.
Join the webinar to:
- Share your views on the skills needed by the wood recycling sector.
- Learn how your local Jobcentre can help you recruit staff and fill vacancies at no cost.
- Find out about support available for young people entering the workforce.
- Understand how your business can contribute to building the sector's future talent pipeline.
Success stories wanted
Has your wood recycling business successfully recruited - or offered work experience - to a young person aged 18-24, or someone leaving care, or the armed forces, or the prison system?
We would love to hear from both you and your employee. Your experience could help inspire other businesses and demonstrate the positive impact of providing opportunities to new entrants.
