Significant waste and recycling reforms have been brought forward in England to help reach a 60% recycling target for municipal waste by 2030. With responsibility for collection services, and wider demands around sustainability and climate change, local government will play a key role in implementing these policies.
In this virtual event, policy and waste strategy experts from Resource Futures will provide an overview of new LGA guidance they developed for councillors on the upcoming reforms. The session will focus on four key policies:
• Simpler Recycling
• Deposit Return Schemes for drinks containers (DRS)
• Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging (pEPR)
• Inclusion of Energy from Waste in the UK Emissions Trading Scheme
