Residual Realities: The Growing Challenge of What’s Left Behind

Date & Time: Wednesday 26th August @ 12:30

As reuse and recycling systems improve, the composition of residual waste is changing.

More materials are being captured and reprocessed — yet what remains is becoming increasingly complex, costly and technically challenging to manage.

Understanding what is left behind — and how to deal with it responsibly — is now a strategic priority.

This session will provide a data-led examination of evolving waste streams and the operational implications of managing residual fractions. It will also explore how policy, chemistry and product design are influencing what ultimately enters — and exits — the system.

The webinar will examine:

- What current data reveals about changing waste composition

- Operational and financial challenges in managing residual streams

- The influence of policy and legislation on material recovery

- Chemical considerations when handling mixed and complex waste fractions

- Designing out end-of-life challenges at product development stage

- Gareth Rollings, Chair of LARAC as guest speaker
