18th European Biosolids & Organic Resources Conference & Exhibition

Manchester Town Hall, UK

The Biosolids conference attracts the most authoritative global experts in the area of biosolids and organic resource handling, treatment and recycling. The programme covers both the latest innovations and updates of existing technologies. Presentations from respected industry experts and newcomers follow the development of technologies and legislation from inception to full-scale installations.

The conference regularly gathers over 200 delegates from all over Europe, many of them return every year both for the technical presentations and the networking opportunities.  Now a concentrated two day conference so that there is more competition for the best papers and in response to feedback as some delegates struggled to get three days out of the office and did not want to miss anything.

Networking Opportunities: The venue is chosen to provide a contained space where delegates can move between lecture rooms and exhibition space and delegates can meet to discuss business opportunities.  Networking opportunities continue in the conference hotels and local bars.  This is two days where a group of industry experts from all aspects of Biosolids can concentrate on the new ideas that the conference proceedings have created.

Exhibitors:  Exhibitors regularly return because they appreciate the quality and diversity of the audience who always provide new business opportunities.  Exhibitors this year include: Aqua Enviro Ltd, Bluewater Bio, Bucher Unipektin, Cambi, Huber Technology, Trojan UV, Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies

Workshop:  Legislation, Definition and Criteria associated with End of Waste

18th November

At present discussions are taking place to establish End of Waste (EoW) criteria for biodegradable waste treated for application to land in order to harmonise EoW controls across the European Union.   And the recommendations of the Office of Fair Trading (OfT) report into the need for a level playing for all organic wastes are still under debate.  As the science of resource recovery races ahead of the legislation, it is considered timely to review to review the status of organic wastes in the UK.  This workshop intends to consider the state of the relevant legislation governing end of waste criteria in UK and how this is interpreted by different organisations.  It will examine the scientific advances that promise better alternatives for resource recovery and consider what is required in order to ensure their rapid uptake.
