The Greater Cambridge Waste Service was formed in November 2016, with a single management and delivery team serving Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire’s 126,000 homes from a single depot in Waterbeach. With a joint workforce, fleet and support functions, the fully integrated service provides significant efficiencies, better customer service and commercial development opportunities for both councils.
Working from our modern Waterbeach depot, our 3 teams (Operations, Commercial, and Policy) work together to meet the needs of our customers and drive improvements in everything we do.
It is a great time to join us in this fast paced and ever-changing environment sector as we operate across the area delivering new and exciting projects.
We are now recruiting for a Waste Project Officer for our Policy Team. The post holder will provide communication support for colleagues and project and policy delivery and to help drive resident’s behaviour change through planning and delivering focussed campaigns.
The service operates a well-established recycling service and good communication is key to maintaining levels of understanding and our engagement with residents. Work may be in relation to operational or policy changes or for bigger projects to drive up participation and increase recycling.
The waste service works alongside other departments to deliver its objectives and the ability to work with colleagues from other teams is essential. This includes responding to planning consultations, dealing with customer service queries and regular liaison with corporate communication teams.
As Waste Project Officer, you will require a wide set of skills but project management and campaign delivery experience are key. A positive, flexible and proactive attitude are needed plus the ability to work well within the team.
