About the role
We are proud of Central Bedfordshire. It is a ‘great place to live and work’. As an ambitious local authority we are committed to ensuring that environmental, sustainability and climate resilience issues are at the heart of decision making. The Authority has experienced a lot of change and like all other local authorities faces the challenge of diminishing budgets alongside increasing demand and customer expectation. Furthermore, Environmental Services will need to adapt to comply with emerging national legislative and regulatory requirements that will result in the largest changes in the sector in recent times. It is a period for reviewing what we do, why we do it and how we do it. It is a time for change which presents challenges and exciting opportunities.
The Service Manager, Information and Strategy will require a strategic approach. They will use their analytic skills to review the current service model. They will ensure that the service is sustainable environmentally, financially and operationally in the long term while ensuring statutory compliance. Your team will review evidence and make recommendations resulting from analysis of data, as well as providing project and process support throughout the Service to deliver outcomes.
You will be a key driver, advocate and deliverer of change within Environmental Services. You will be energetic and solution focussed, and able to identify the root cause of issues/challenges. The Service Manager, Information and Strategy will be key in navigating the Authority to deliver best value services for Central Bedfordshire residents.
You’re skilled at building strong relationships and sharing knowledge with internal and external stakeholders, and Councillors. You're accustomed to management, prioritisation and change whilst considering local and national influences. You will have worked in the environmental or similar sectors where there has been a focus on analysing and interpreting information to make evidenced based decisions and deliver outcomes.
Educated to a high standard, you will have a high level of IT skills, literacy and numeracy with the ability to lead and motivate a small team. You'll use your expertise and strategic thinking to lead and deliver service change, the formation of policy and forming recommendations about how the Authority should comply with relevant legislative changes. Join us during this exciting time, and help us to deliver great, high quality services now and in the future.
