Leicester City Council’s Waste Management Team, in partnership with our contractor Biffa Leicester, manages Leicester City’s waste and recycling services.

This is a new post in the waste management contracts team, created to support the monitoring of the contracted waste services. The post holder will use their experience to solve day-to-day contract issues and manage projects to identify problems and help find workable solutions within the structure of the contract.

Essential requirements of the post:

  • In depth knowledge and experience of working in the waste sector or a related field.
  • An understanding of waste related legislation, guidelines and policy and of the current issues facing the waste management industry.
  • Experience using of a range of IT applications including the use and development of databases.
  • Good communications skills including experience in dealing with difficult situations with a range of stakeholders including colleagues, members of the public, business users, and contractors.
  • Experience of inspecting, monitoring or auditing processes and procedures.
  • Organised and able to prioritise to meet targets and deadlines, including being able to develop and lead on projects.
  • Willing and able to be ‘Warranted’ to carry out investigations, prepare case files for prosecution and be a witness in court if required.
  • Ability to travel to various locations and work outside of normal office hours as is relevant to the role.
