BCP Council requires an Environmental Promotions Officer to work across two teams in its Strategic Development Division– Waste management and Open spaces.
The role involves planning and delivering promotional campaigns to encourage residents and businesses to:
- 1) effectively utilise local waste services such as kerbside collections, recycling centres and various waste prevention or reuse initiatives
- 2) improve the quality of open spaces and their facilities for people and wildlife.
Regular duties will include coordinating design works, drafting content for promotional material, social media and e-newsletters and supporting service delivery.
In liaison with the Corporate Communications Team, the appointed officer would coordinate on behalf of Strategic Development reactive and proactive communications including media responses and webpage updates, aligned with the Council’s Corporate priorities.
The Environmental Promotions Officer would also be responsible for delivering the BCP School’s Environment Award to schools across BCP.
The successful candidate should have proven experience of leading promotional campaigns (ideally in an environmental field), have good working knowledge of communication and engagement tools, be a confident communicator and work effectively under pressure.
The Environmental Promotions Officer will play an active role across two multi-skilled teams and there will be opportunities to develop their own skills and contribute to the direction of strategies, policies and delivery.
As a result of its creation in 2019, BCP Council are currently working to simplify our terms and conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which all employees will move on to. The benefits offered as part of the total employment package are also under review and we’re hoping to implement changes in early 2022.
