Rochdale Borough Council

Rochdale Council is looking for a dynamic individual to manage our Environmental Quality Team which consists of our Enforcement and Public Realm Officers alongside our Recycling Participation and Campaigns officers. We’ve made good progress in improving our recycling performance and taking enforcement action when needed but there is always more to do.

A good knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and practices alongside an in-depth knowledge of enforcement and waste and recycling collections are a fundamental requirement of this role.  Just as important will be a real passion and determination to make a positive difference to the quality of the local environment for the residents, business and visitors across the four townships that make up the borough of Rochdale.

The Post holder will also be primarily responsible for the effective delivery of the Council’s Environmental Enforcement Policy alongside its recycling participation and campaigns programme of work.  This important role demands an enthusiastic individual who is up to the challenge of improving environmental quality through the delivery of a reduction in environmental related offences alongside an aligned service which will allow and encourage our residents to recycle more with the ultimate aim of significantly reducing the amount of residents’ household waste that we currently send to landfill.

Casual User Car Allowance is payable.

The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects staff to share this commitment.
