The Opportunity

Join the Circular Economy Team in our mission to transform Essex into a Safer, Greener, and Healthier County. We’re dedicated to minimising the impact on the environment by supporting residents to reduce waste and increase the amounts recycled, and by working with others to deliver a more circular economy.

The Behaviour Change Lead role is a new position where you’ll be instrumental in developing and driving the Waste Reduction Behaviour Change programme for recycling and waste. The programme will identify, develop, test and evidence the impact of interventions to support strategic goals and secure future investment.

We are seeking a passionate individual to lead a team and champion engaging and innovative external communications and campaigns that deliver lasting behaviour change.

Join us in creating a brighter, more sustainable future for Essex!

What will you be doing?

As Behaviour Change Lead, you will play a key role in leading a team working closely with external consultancies, partners and stakeholders to design and deliver activities aimed at assessing feasibility.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing interventions and communications campaigns delivered through the Love Essex and council brands, implementing digital solutions, and co-ordinating service-led activities. Additionally, you will be responsible for evidencing the impact of behavioural change interventions, ensuring that the impact of each intervention is measured, learning is captured and replicable models are documented.

Working closely alongside the Communications Lead to support the delivery of the Waste Reduction Behaviour Change programme ensuring ambitious waste reduction and increased recycling goals are met.
