The British Plastics Federation (BPF) is carrying out a feasibility study into how to increase the recycling rate of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS). EPS is already effectively recycled from householders using take back schemes operated by large electrical equipment retailers, and the current recycling rate is 50%. EPS is a valuable material, and demand for material for recycling is increasing. It is one of the few plastics for which recycling infrastructure is expanding.
The BPF, with support from Axion, are looking to engage with Local Authorities to determine the feasibility of collecting EPS from HWRCs, and we are looking for participants willing to pilot a collection trial.
If you are interested in the work we are doing and think you may be able to support the study, please contact Richard McKinlay, Head of Circular Economy at Axion on 07710093147 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
