East Riding of Yorkshire Council wins APSE Service Team of the Year for Waste and Recycling

APSE, the Association for Public Service Excellence, has announced that the winner of the Best Service Team for the delivery of a Waste Management and Recycling Service is East Riding of Yorkshire Council with the council also taking the top prize as Overall Council of the Year.

The annual awards celebrate outstanding achievement and innovation within local government service delivery.

The citation said: East Riding of Yorkshire Council has achieved England’s top recycling rate for three years running, receiving the inaugural trophy for “Local Authority Recycling League Champion for England”. The Waste and Recycling Team’s proactive schemes and close partnership working with residents has increased recycling and improved services. A focus on bin contamination through communication with residents and supporting crews, has reduced missed bins and contamination levels. Despite huge challenges and budget pressures, the team worked hard to overcome them.

FCC Environment, which operates 10 Household Waste and Recycling Centres, 3 Transfer Loading Stations and the Residual Waste Processing Contract on behalf of East Riding of Yorkshire would like to congratulate the Council on this incredible achievement.

Cassie Hart, FCC Environment Contract Manager for Hull & East Riding said “it has been a hard year all round but to have been able to play a significant part in supporting East Riding of Yorkshire Council to deliver an exceptional Waste Management and Recycling Service is incredible.”

Huge congratulations from LARAC!
