Recycle Week is on the horizon, and we are planning a national, high impact campaign. In 2018, Britain woke up to the benefits of recycling. This Recycle Week (23 – 29 September), we are taking it even further and inspiring action across the nation.
2019 is the year of the environmental activist. Environmental concerns are front of mind for people, and it’s a great opportunity for us to encourage citizens to make a difference. This year for Recycle Week, we are taking recycling into our own hands, showing people that recycling is the norm and it’s happening all across Britain. This year’s Recycle Week theme is to encourage action wherever you are. Do something powerful. Do something radical. Do something that will make a difference. 2018 was the year that Britain woke up to recycling. 2019 is the year we’re taking action.
We know that by working together – local authorities, businesses, citizens, and communities can really make a difference. Last year, the campaign reached more people than ever before. We reached 16 million people through positive media stories; had a 30% increase in twitter engagement compared to 2018; and saw #recycleweek trending number one on Twitter.
To help you get involved in 2019, we have created a suite of easy-to-use assets that you can share online, on social media, and in your local communities. The assets will be available on our partners’ website at the end of July. Please do sign up to our local authority newsletter (selecting ‘Collections and Recycling’ from areas of interest) and we will let you know when they are ready.
To support Recycle Week this year please:
- Get involved through tweeting using #recycleweek and #inourownhands
- Amplify our social reach by re-tweeting and sharing Recycle Week content
- Promote your status as a partner through PR and social activity
- Use the iconic Recycle Now swoosh instead of an ‘O’ in your logo; aligning yourself with the week of action
- Light up any local iconic buildings green
We are looking forward to working with you to make this the best Recycle Week yet!
