Conwy Council is looking for a Waste Manager committed to the concept of waste as a resource. Whether, your experience is from public or private sector, kerbside sort or commingled, you should have the ability to operate successfully within political, corporate policy and financial constraints.
In this role you will have overall responsibility for the Council’s waste management services including all statutory duties as a Waste Collection Authority and Waste Disposal Authority. In-house services include domestic refuse and recycling collection, trade waste service, transfer stations and education and technical officer teams. Outsourced services include operation of Household Recycling Centres, garden waste and textiles collections. You will be responsible for both strategic direction and operational delivery.
You should have a degree standard qualification or equivalent and have the ability to lead and motivate a diverse workforce. We are looking for strong financial management skills and a creative approach to problem solving and information gathering. The position requires effective written and verbal communication with the public, elected members and senior management. The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is desirable.
