An opportunity has presented itself within the Environment Directorate for an Assistant Team Leader – Waste Services to lead and manage the Waste Services team.

As Assistant Team Leader you will manage the frontline teams in Waste Services. You will develop waste management services including waste collection, recycling and disposal and street cleansing within Blaenau Gwent ensuring statutory targets are achieved.
You will be supporting the Team Leader to develop a long term business plan and evaluate service delivery. You will ensure operational services are running efficiently and effectively, manage recruitment, induction and training for the members of the Waste Services team, allocate, instruct, direct and organise work in the form of work programmes and action plans and liaise with Governing bodies to ensure the authority’s services are operating in line with legislation and guidance.
The successful candidate will have an NVQ Level 3 in Waste Management/Business Administration, extensive knowledge and experience in the waste/recycling industry; have knowledge of EU legislation and the ability to function in a demanding and continually changing environment.
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
