Find out the compliance performance of a waste operation

Do you need to make decisions about who to contract to take your waste? If you do, the National Compliance Indicators Dataset will be a helpful tool for you.

The latest dataset, compiled by the Environment Agency, covers the period 1 January to 31 December 2014. It provides information on waste operations and installations, giving a star-rating of their compliance performance against their Environmental Permit on a site-specific basis. 1 star is the least compliant and 6 stars are the most compliant. A site not visited by the Environment Agency within the last calendar year will be marked N/A. Compliance can change within a year so for more current information about a specific site please contact the local Environment Agency area office that covers the site.

You can search the database in a range of ways including; operator; site name; site address and local council area.

This dataset is intended to help you make informed decisions when tendering contracts, to help you assess the on-going performance of those you have issued contracts to and to aid you in meeting your Duty of Care. This information should be used alongside existing checks you make before entering into an agreement.

If you have any questions or feedback about the dataset, you can email: csdi@environment-agency.gov.uk
